Connected Britain 2020
Energy Systems Catapult’s experts in Digital and Data and Consumer Protection are presenting at this year’s Connected Britain virtual conference on 23-25 September 2020.
The Connected Britain Conference seeks to provide an environment to understand and explore the regulatory and financial landscape for digital infrastructure investment in the UK. The 2020 conference will deliver a renewed focus on the wider implications of UK Digital Strategy for the telecoms industry and beyond, and how the UK can tackle emerging challenges head on to become a leading player in the digital revolution.
Dr Richard Dobson, Practice Manager for Digital and Data systems and an integral member of the Energy Data Taskforce, will be chairing the 11.30am panel session on 25 September entitled: ‘The integral role of data in smart infrastructure planning’, drawing on the work of the Energy Data Taskforce and the Catapult’s Open Data Platform work.
Richard will be speaking alongside panellists including Ritchie Somerville, Head of Strategy, Data-Driven Innovation Initiative at the University of Edinburgh; Ian Gordon, Head of Data Architecture and Engineering at Highways England and Leigh Dodds, Director of Advisory, The Open Data Institute.
Rob Adams, Service Design Consultant at the Catapult will also be participating in the event as a panellist on 25 September 13.20pm session, focussing on ‘Delivering a Connected Britain for all: bridging the digital and social divide’. Here, Rob will draw upon the Catapult’s work on consumer vulnerability and fuel poverty, including recent projects on how smart energy systems and digital technologies can be harnessed to ensure benefits and opportunities reach vulnerable consumers.
