Energy Systems Catapult and Linklaters webinar: ESG and 2050: The road to net zero

Published: 19 June 2020

Energy Systems Catapult joined Linklaters as guest speakers in June to deliver a webinar exploring Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) in the context of the Catapult’s Innovating to Net Zero report.

A full recording of this webinar can be accessed here.

ESG remains a key focus for funds, asset managers and other financial institutions and corporates. In this session for asset managers, energy, real estate and infrastructure funds, Linklaters and the Catapult will explore how energy and infrastructure must adapt in practice in order to transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

What does net zero, and the path to that goal, look like for the UK?

Scott Milne, Head of Insights, and Hannah Bronwin, Commercial Director at Energy Systems Catapult presented at the webinar, drawing on the Catapult’s flagship Innovating to Net Zero report, which modelled 100’s of potential pathways to achieve our 2050 carbon targets across three essential areas – low carbon technology, land use and lifestyle – and outlining an evidenced based, techno-economic pathway for the UK to meet its net zero target.

The session covers:

  • The ESG landscape
  • The Catapult’s net zero pathway analysis
  • What technologies are needed to drive the transition and what sectors will see the biggest changes
  • The required innovation and investment impetus and the scope for a green recovery from Covid-19
