The Government is currently developing a new industrial strategy to meet a number of pressing economic and political objectives. It needs to enable and support a clean energy transition, whilst keeping consumer energy costs as low as possible.

The Energy Systems Catapult and E3G have convened a small group of thought leaders to consider how to best promote a clean energy transition, that can be aligned with the emerging industrial strategy.

The first output from this group is a report entitled ‘The Clean Energy Transition and Industrial Strategy: Developing a Coherent Approach’. This initial, high level analysis suggests that there are a number of areas where strategic action by Government can deliver multiple benefits across both the transformation of the energy system and the industrial strategy.

Report co-author and Energy Systems Catapult Director and Head of External Relations, Nick Smailes commented –

“We’re delighted to be able to contribute to this early stage report alongside E3G. Both organisations are keen to build on the initial analysis and support the work currently being undertaken by Government to develop the industrial strategy.”

Mr Smailes continued:

“We would be keen to hear your thoughts on both the report and where and how we might contribute most effectively going forward. Please do get in touch through our Twitter or LinkedIn accounts.”
