Energy Systems Catapult is working with various SMEs in the UK and Canada, to identify potential collaborative partnerships to develop projects and apply for the Canada-UK Joint Challenge on Smart Energy Systems.
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) have developed this Challenge with the 2030 grid in mind. They’re looking for innovators from Canada and the UK to come together to pitch high-quality projects that explore the cutting edge of smart grid innovation. Solutions will need to be disruptive, modular and scalable, interoperable and demonstrate clear value to the end user and the grid.
The deadline for UK Demonstration Projects is 15 March 2019. A group of finalists will be selected to receive up to £1.8 million each over approximately 16 months to conduct a pilot scale demonstration of their solutions for the grid of the future. Finalist projects will compete to demonstrate best in class performance and to be considered for the $1 million prize award for the winning team.
