Greater Manchester spatial energy plan full report

As part of the Smart Systems and Heat Programme the ESC, working on behalf of the Energy Technologies Institute, is working with three Local Areas including the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to pilot the use of the EnergyPath Networks modelling software and related capability in the planning of cost-effective local energy systems.

The Combined Authority and the ESC have developed a high-level Spatial Energy Plan for Greater Manchester, which makes up around 3% of total UK energy use. This plan consolidated the significant volumes of existing data and evidence relating to the local areas energy system in Greater Manchester, in which there is a wide disparity in energy use. It has informed the development of near term spatial planning policies and helped to identify a specific local area to pilot the use of EnergyPath Networks.
