Modern Slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, taking many forms – including slavery, servitude, forced labour, compulsory labour and human trafficking – involving one person exploiting another for personal or commercial gain by depriving them of their liberty.

1. Our organisation

Energy Systems Catapult (“we”) acts ethically and with integrity in all its business dealings and has zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and has undertaken to comply with the Act even though exemptions could apply. We are committed to ensuring that there is transparency in our business and supply chain, consistent with the Act and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

2. Supply chain

Our supply chain includes:

• Research and development organisations
• Universities
• Subject matter experts
• Professional advisors
• Business support and service companies
• Public bodies

3. Policies

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our anti-slavery policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

We also have additional policies such as the whistleblowing policy and procurement policies to ensure we act ethically.

4. Due Diligence

We have in place systems and processes to:

• Identify, assess and monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains
• Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains
• Protect whistleblowers

5. Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to our staff on induction and regularly thereafter.
