The Catapult is organised as a set of Platforms and Capabilities. The Platforms are focussed on commercial engagement with organisations in the energy sector; their objective is to understand the needs of these organisations and to respond to them in the most effective way. The Capabilities are structured around areas of subject matter expertise (Digital & Data; Systems Integration; Modelling; Infrastructure & Engineering; and Consumer Insight). Each Capability is focussed on defining, designing and delivering solutions that satisfy technical, operational and commercial requirements to address client and sector needs. Solutions may require contribution from multiple Capabilities and may take the form of a project or programme, or an asset like a model, dataset, or test facility.
Transitioning to a low-carbon energy system to meet the 2050 net zero target is one of the most complex challenges we have ever faced. One of the areas that must be addressed if we are to achieve the net zero target is the retrofit of the UK’s building stock , however there are significant barriers to achieving this at scale and the solutions to unblocking those are ultimately what we would like you to tackle.
This brand-new opportunity, reporting to the business leader of the home’s platform, will ultimately be responsible for securing revenue, shaping project content and driving through the delivery of projects focused on Building Decarbonisation with a strong emphasis on standards, solutions & options for digital tools to improve accuracy, productivity and quality, future “hands on“ retrofitting skills & training needs. The related projects are expected to convene the activities of many stakeholders, from Industry, Academics, Local and Central governments.
