Tania Songini is a Non-Executive Director (NED) at Energy Systems Catapult. The former Finance Director of Siemens Energy UK has built a portfolio of five NED roles focussed on the energy transition.

Meet Tania Songini

Tania brings over 20 years of senior financial management experience at Siemens, a leading global infrastructure, engineering and technology services company, where she was involved in the energy, healthcare, and logistics sectors, most recently serving as Finance Director of Siemens Energy UK.

In recent years Tania has built a portfolio of non-executive director roles focussed on the energy transition, including on the board of Thrive Renewables plc (a mid-sized renewable energy developer and operator), The Private Infrastructure Development Group (a development finance fund for infrastructure projects in the poorest countries of Africa and Asia), Guernsey Electricity (the sole electricity utility on the island of Guernsey). She recently joined the board of the UK Infrastructure Bank.

As a NED at the Private Infrastructure Development Group Tania has overseen the extension of its sustainable infrastructure portfolio to utility scale and distributed/off-grid renewable energy, e-mobility, water, embedding high ESG standards into projects, ensuring that climate mitigation and adaptation considerations are taken into account in investment decisions.

At Thrive Renewables Tania has participated in decisions regarding diversification of the portfolio investing in new technologies, beyond wind, such as solar, hydro, storage and geothermal, assisting with the shift to more distributed, local energy systems.

At Guernsey Electricity Tania is helping the utility reposition itself for the energy transition, considering the right mix of technological options including interconnectors, on island renewables, grid scale storage and what role Guernsey Electricity can play in the roll out of EV charging.

Tania has a Masters degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Rome. She is a commercial and community mediator, and chairs a small charity helping street and working children in Ecuador through healthcare and education programmes.
