UK Hydrogen Energy Landscape – have your say
In November 2020, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced his Ten Point Plan for a green industrial revolution in the UK. The plan covers clean energy, transport, nature and emerging technologies and aims to create and support up to 250,000 jobs in the UK.
Hydrogen is one of the key priorities of the ten-point plan, which outlines that the government will be “working with industry aiming to generate 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030 for industry, transport, power and homes, and aiming to develop the first town heated entirely by hydrogen by the end of the decade.”
The Hydrogen opportunity
As part of our Energy Landscape Series, Energy Systems Catapult has identified over 60 companies in its first scoping of the UK’s Hydrogen Landscape. The landscape maps six subsectors within the hydrogen sector:
- Distribution & Transportation
These subsectors are split further into 38 categories.
Should you be on the Hydrogen Landscape?
We are calling on UK businesses to review the first scoping of this infographic to suggest any additional subsectors which can be incorporated and to identify where they should be classified in the landscape. If you feel you fit the profile for this Landscape, and would like to appear on it please complete the form here. The consultation for this landscape closes on 21 July, 2021.
Our Energy Landscapes
At Energy Systems Catapult, we want to bring innovative companies together and to highlight the UK’s capability in emerging sectors. As a result, we need clear visibility of the companies that are innovating in this space and the types of innovations that are emerging – so that policy-makers, regulators, investors, and indeed innovators themselves, can remove barriers to energy system integration and drive the scale-up that will enable the UK to lead the world in energy system transformation.
We encourage collaboration between organisations to identify opportunities for working together as this sector matures, and our energy landscapes help make this happen.
Our landscapes are available exclusively on Energy Launchpad
Once consultation is complete, our completed landscapes are available to view or download on Energy Launchpad, our dedicated membership portal for innovators and investors actively working to transform the UK energy system. Registration is free and you can access our other energy landscapes there too. If you are an innovator, investor, or work with companies in the energy sector, we can help you to collaborate with organisations within our energy landscapes.
