The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free, nationwide service in the UK designed to support individuals and households that need extra support, for example during power, gas, or water supply interruptions.
Utility companies across the country, electricity, gas, and water, maintain a register of customers in their service area who may require additional assistance. Being listed on the PSR ensures those individuals receive timely and accessible information and support.
Benefits of joining the PSR
Households registered on the PSR can expect a range of benefits, including:
- Priority updates and notifications during power cuts or maintenance that may affect electricity or gas supplies, allowing time to make necessary preparations.
- Extra support for those using medical equipment reliant on electricity or water. In emergencies, companies can provide portable generators or bottled water when needed.
- Enhanced security through password protection. Customers can set a unique password that must be used by utility staff when visiting or calling, offering added peace of mind.
As part of Warm Home Prescription® we will register you on the relevant PSRs for your area. After you are registered your energy network operator should contact you by email or post to confirm your registration.
