Local Energy Systems Scottish Industry Network 1st Wave Event
Join us on May 18th 2021 for the Local Energy Systems Scottish Industry Network (LESSIN) first engagement wave kick-off event. The event will focus on the main opportunities that Local Energy Systems in Scotland present and also dig into the digital integration challenge.
This will be an interactive session with a keynote speech from Simon Gill, Head of Whole Systems & Industrial Policy (The Scottish Government) and other contributions included from The Data Lab (Scotland’s Innovation Centre for Data & AI) and the LESSIN Partners & Funders.
A series of cluster-building activities, SME support, and challenge events will be developed throughout the different themed engagement waves, so there will be plenty of opportunities to find the right session(s) for you and your business over the coming months.

This first wave will consist of a series of collaborative events, workshops and working groups to explore current LES challenges and opportunities for collaboration.
The two LESSIN Themes we will explore first are:
An Introduction to Local Energy Systems including the Innovation and Funding Landscape
Digitalisation of LES – Data & Digital Integration
The ‘kick-off’ event will:
Set out how LESSIN will support, encourage and help facilitate collaboration in LES activities.
Provide an overview of the two initial LESSIN focus themes, their main challenges and opportunities from the perspectives of different sectors.
Provide an overview of available funding & support for innovation and business development.
Discuss priorities and pathways to develop LES expertise, innovation, implementation, initiatives & communities of practice.
Set agendas for LESSIN activities, focus groups, and collaborative approaches.
Share positive experiences, case studies, and lessons learned.
Highlight upcoming activities and next steps in the establishment of LESSIN.
Local Energy Systems Scottish Industry Network (LESSIN) is an initiative to support the decarbonisation of industrial Scotland while building the low carbon economy.
The project will bring together manufacturers, project developers, technology companies, innovation support organisations, knowledge communities, and investors to cultivate the low carbon ecosystem in Scotland, and beyond.
LESSIN is led by Energy Systems Catapult in collaboration with the Energy Technology Partnership (ETP), and on behalf of Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. The project is part-funded by the 2014–2020 European Structural and Investment Fund.
