HSBC-funded Climate Innovation Platform returns for 2023
Supported by HSBC UK and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the University of Birmingham Climate Innovation Platform (CIP) is offering a new range of time limited business development opportunities to support businesses committed to driving climate innovation.
Based at Tyseley Energy Park, within Birmingham’s Green Energy and Innovation Quarter, CIP offers businesses on any of their support programmes the opportunity to access funding, incubation support/space and join a growing network of cleantech innovators.

Launching in Spring 2023, the CIP Springboard is a bespoke business development programme designed to support early-stage climate innovators and entrepreneurs.
This four-day programme scheduled to take place between Monday 27 February – Friday 31 March 2023 will be delivered by business experts to take successful applicants through all the areas that a fledgling business needs to develop their core business offer.
Application deadline: 13:00 on Friday 10 February 2023.
The Climate Innovation Platform (CIP) offers businesses a package of tailored support to drive the commercialisation of innovative energy products and services. This programme will be delivered by the University of Birmingham in partnership with the Energy Systems Catapult (June – December 2023).
Offering grant funding (phase 1 up to £5k, phase 2 up to £20.5k) and bespoke business development support designed to aid businesses in scaling-up and commercialisation.
Application deadline: 13:00 on Monday 17th April 2023.
During these sessions the CIP and TEP teams will brief you on each of the opportunities and explain how these can benefit your business.
*Applicants to the Climate Innovation Fund and Climate Innovation Platform – Springboard programme must be an SME (Small and Medium Size Enterprise) based in the Greater Birmingham Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) more developed area (most postcodes in the Birmingham, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest Districts).
