This sectoral review of India’s energy transition is a sector-by-sector analysis of several major carbon-emitting sectors (buildings, agriculture, iron and steel, cement, transport). Decarbonising these sectors, whilst also enabling economic development, will be an extremely difficult challenge, but one which is critical to the global effort to limit climate change. This report explores some of the challenges each sector will face as India aims to reach Net Zero emissions by 2070.
Energy Systems Catapult, along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has developed the Innovating for Transport and Energy Systems (ITES) initiative. ITES is funded by Innovate UK (IUK) and the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
