The Catapult’s role in supporting Open Data in the UK energy sector
In this we report we examine the impact the Catapult has had since 2017 on open data sharing and access. Our evaluation work in this area aims to test the degree to which this has occurred, and further understand the Catapult’s impact in driving these outcomes.
Paving the Path to Net Zero – Matt Friend
We’ve had a busy quarter one. We’ve made 16 datasets available on our new Net Zero Market, launched Innovating to Net Zero 2024, and welcomed Dr Tony Cocker as our new Chair.
Energy Systems Catapult’s Evaluation Framework 2022/23 – 2027/28
We have developed a clear evaluation approach and logic model, within this impact evaluation framework. In line with best practice set we are taking a theory-based approach to evaluation. Within the overall frame of theory-based impact evaluation methods, we are following a contribution analysis approach, taking into account the complex nature of our interventions and how their impacts are generated.
Helping the UK’s most exciting clean energy innovators thrive in the future system – Guy Newey
The last few years have been rough. First COVID-19 brought us to a standstill, then the global energy crisis wrought havoc on businesses and consumers alike. Yet, despite all of this, the UK’s clean energy innovators such as AMP-X, GridDuck, Demand Logic, Voltempo, and SMPnet Ltd, have continued to reimagine how we get to Net Zero.

Insights and Impact from the first three years of the Energy Launchpad
After 18 months of incredible growth, which has seen more SMEs than ever before access Energy Launchpad’s support offerings, the results of a recent survey shows that our SMEs and their businesses have overwhelmingly benefitted from the targeted support we have been able to provide.
Energy Revolution Integration Service Programme summary
The Energy Revolution Integration Service (ERIS) was created to play a central role in Innovate UK’s £102.5 million Prospering from the Energy Revolution (PFER) programme – running from 2018-2023. ERIS delivered a legacy of insights, tools, learning and thought leadership to support the development of Smart Local Energy Systems to help local communities reach Net Zero. A summary has been prepared exploring the outputs, achievements, and impact.
Piloting virtual trade missions to India and Thailand
Energy Systems Catapult’s Energy Launchpad programme opened a call to the UK smart energy supply chain, and we ran two simultaneous, virtual missions to India and Thailand throughout the second half of 2020-21 that featured 16 SME innovators from the UK. With the pilot of the Energy Launchpad International programme, we have proven that we
have a winning design that draws on our energy sector expertise, deep understanding of the startup journey and our international networks.
