05/12/2023 - Digital Security by Design

The digitalisation of the energy sector is critical to reaching net zero by 2050 and supporting a smart, flexible energy system. Pivotal to the success of this digitalised system will be an increased transferral of information between a more active pool of participants, and so it is crucial that there are underpinning technologies in place that are able to provide reliability and security to those participating in the system.

UKRI’s Digital Security by Design (DSbD) is an initiative supported by the UK government to transform digital technology and create a more resilient, and secure foundation for a safer future. DSbD will enable a more trustworthy digital environment, by radically updating the foundation of insecure digital computing architecture, creating an environment in which only expected access to data and operations are permitted. Built on new security capabilities, the technologies developed through this programme will underpin future digital products and services.

On Tuesday 5th December, Energy Systems Catapult will be hosting a webinar as an introduction to the DSbD programme, as well as discussing it’s key technologies: CHERI and ARM Morello. As part of the webinar, we will be highlighting and outlining the objectives of the programme, as well as outlining how organisations can begin to request test hardware and what they can expect to achieve from it.
