Energeo harness the power of geospatial big data, alongside advances in machine learning to deliver intelligence that identifies the most beneficial locations to deploy low carbon technologies, reducing the costs and timescales associated with traditional manual methods.
The firm has been selected by Energy Systems Catapult’s Innovator Support Platform to receive specialist business support to accelerate them on their path to growth, drawing on their range of advanced capabilities as well as those of their wide network of partners.
The Challenge and Opportunity
Energeo’s mission is to accelerate the transition to a low carbon economy by harnessing the power of geospatial big data, alongside advances in machine learning to deliver intelligence that ensures businesses and individuals can act quickly and decisively to create a sustainable future.
They have opened dialogue with around 40 of over 220 local authorities in the UK that identified they were “declaring a climate emergency”.
Energeo has also opened early stage discussions with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, UKPN, Sovereign Housing, CENEX and others on providing data and software to support their low carbon technology planning.
Taken together these shows the potential scalability in the UK public sector alone.
Engergeo is keen to fully understand how and where its products and services could create new value. They are looking for support in identifying the right market fit for their business, and also in determining any necessary changes in their products, services, approach and messaging to break into this sector.
Energeo uses geospatial technology (such as satellite imagery) and analytical techniques (e.g. machine learning) to automatically identify the most beneficial locations to deploy low carbon technologies.
This location-based intelligence is used as a form of ‘digital surveying’ that reduces the costs and timescales associated with traditional manual methods.
The company has a software-as-a-service offering, the Energy Project Identification Platform (EPIP). This browser-based platform enables end users to visualise, contextualise and interrogate this data within an intuitive interface, and enables the modelling of future low carbon deployment scenarios to determine the potential impact on low voltage grid infrastructure.

With access to the correct data, the innovation allows stakeholders to:
- Rapidly identify opportunities to deploy low carbon technology, aggregate projects or co-locate technologies
- Work out the potential energy generation from renewable/sustainable energy
- Estimate the potential carbon emissions reduction from wide-scale low carbon technology deployment
- Forecast the potential return power flow from low carbon technologies to assess impact at local grid level.
